Andy's new collection of poetry entitled, Within the Slide of Wind, is now available from the Indigo Dreams Publishing website and from Amazon.
Four poems included in new anthologies
Andy is delighted to have four poems included recently in anthologies. The most recent inclusion is the poem, 'Badger,' which appears in the anthology, For the Silent. This volume has been published with the intended aim of raising money to aid the work of the League Against Cruel Sports. It includes poems by some of my heroes: Mary Oliver, Seamus Heaney, Eileen Carney Hulme, John Clare, Jenny Hamlett and Ted Hughes. It is published by the League Against Cruel Sports and IDP. The anthology, Spindrift, which highlights work by members of The Federation of Writers (Scotland), includes the poem, 'Shadows of Belonging,' and is published by NVP. 'Dagda, Just Before Dawn,' a poem concerning the Celtic goddess is published in, Highland Lights, published by Highland LIT. A hedgehog poem, 'Spike,' is included in, The Bushpig Chronicles, an attractive little book put together by the relatively new Hedgehog Press.
The Lady of the Forest
Andy is currently working on a novel-length, project with the working title: 'Lady of the Forest.' This story is written, like most books, in prose, but is unusual in that it also has extensive sections of the story written in verse. Poems are of considerable importance and included in this project too.
Work on the LotF project started in the 1980's and has been continuing, as a casual labour of love, and when time allowed, ever since. At the turn of the year, January 2019, Andy decided to give this project his full attention, with the aim of finishing before the end of the year.
There is a lot of manuscript to revise, edit and re-write. There are new sections of story to write and new poems too. The story is based in Highland Scotland, and includes elements and characters based on Highland/Celtic myth. From the working title, you will have correctly gathered that forests play a big part in this tale.
There is nothing to announce at present. Plans are being made for some local readings – dates will be posted here once confirmed.
